This art work celebrates the award of the 1999 Nobel Prize to Martinus Veltman, U-M professor emeritus, and his student Gerard ‘t Hooft.
The essence of holography is that two separate beams of light are combined to produce a three-dimensional image, the view of which depends on the position of the observer.
